by Shirlian Queeley
International Day for Disaster Reduction is observed on 13 October annually to raise awareness about disaster reduction.
Although no major activities are planned for this year on Montserrat to mark the occasion as has happened over the past three (3) years, the Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA) will be having a “Quiz Week” starting Monday, October 14th, 2019 to Friday, October 18th, 2019.
The quizzes which will be posted on DMCA’s Facebook page and aired on ZJB Radio Montserrat are geared at children both at the primary and secondary school levels as well as adults.
The aim is to raise the public's awareness about disaster risk reduction and the steps they can take to reduce their risk from the impact of natural and man-made hazards.

AIR QUALITY IS AT MODERATE LEVELS BUT EXPECTED TO DETERIORATE AGAIN TO UNHEALTHY LEVELS TODAY UNUSUALLY SENSITIVE PEOPLE SUCH AS ACTIVE CHILDREN AND ADULTS, AND PEOPLE WITH RESPIRATORY DISEASE, SUCH AS ASTHMA, SHOULD LIMIT PROLONGED OR HEAVY EXERTION
