The Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA) held its annual national Hurricane Conference today Friday, August 7th, 2019 at its compound on Yellow Hill Road.

Director of the DMCA Major Alvin Ryan gave the opening remarks.

His Excellency, Governor, Andrew Pearce also addressed the gathering.

There was also a presentation by DMCA’s Education and Information Officer Shirlian Queeley on the predictions of the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

DMCA’s Operations and Logistics Officer Kelvin White spoke on
the agency’s preparedness including an update on Hurricane Shelters.

Discussions were held on peripheral threats to response – road, water supply, department/agency planning and vulnerabilities of Government buildings

A simulation exercise to test Montserrat’s communication capability was held involving VHF and HF radios, Sattelite Phones and the National Siren system.
