8PM UPDATE: Two Disturbances in the Atlantic; Both systems are not an immediate threat to Montserrat – DMCA Continues to closely monitor AL92 which is still on a general track toward the Caribbean with a 90% chance of becoming a Tropical Cyclone in 48 hours.

Yellow Hill – Sunday, 18 June 2023 – Tropical Disturbances AL92 and 2 pose no immediate threat to Montserrat at this time, and no watches or warnings have been issued for the island. The Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA) continues to monitor the progress of the AL92 closely and will provide regular updates.

As of Sunday evening, the National Hurricane Center says AL92 located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands continues to show signs of organization. Environmental conditions appear conducive for additional development, and a tropical depression or tropical storm is expected to form over the next day or so. This system is forecast to move westward at 15 to 20 mph across the central tropical Atlantic with further development through the middle part of the week.

Disturbance 2, located a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands recently emerged off the coast of Africa. Some slow development of this system is possible through the middle to the latter part of this week as the system moves westward at about 15 mph across the eastern and central
tropical Atlantic.

Disturbance 1 has a 10% chance of formation in the next two days and, a 20% chance of development in the next seven days.

The Disaster Management Coordination Agency, DMCA is encouraging residents and visitors to continue to monitor the DMCA, review their hurricane plans, assess their risks, complete their hurricane preparations, and be prepared.
